Why you need it
Every company has a loop in it. The same message, the same form, the same three people chased for the same approval. It is nobody's actual job and it takes somebody's whole week.
It is also the easiest thing in a business to fix, because the rules are already known. They are just being carried out by a person, at the speed a person can carry them out, and they stop entirely when that person is busy.

The request goes out on Monday. It sits on a desk. Somebody chases on Wednesday. It moves on Thursday, and nobody can tell you where it is in between.
We follow one request from end to end and write down the rule that is already in somebody's head. From then on the system does the chasing.
The same request now moves the moment it can move, every time, and you can see where it is without asking. You handle the exceptions. The routine handles itself.

With the times attached. It is usually the waiting that turns two hours into three days, and you only see that once it is written down.

We write the rule down
Who can approve what, up to how much, and what happens when they do not. That rule already exists. It is just living in somebody's head, which is why it is applied differently on a Friday.

The system does the chasing
Reminders, escalation, the next step starting on its own. Nobody has to remember, and nobody has to be the person who nags.

You get the exceptions
The point is not that you stop looking. The point is that you only look at the things that actually need a decision.
